Talk about random stuff that has nothing to do with TF2 or other games.

Lip piercing?

I'm thinking about getting one. Are they hard to care for? Any advice for or against getting one?

Agreed, not a fan of rings, plus I think they'd be weird. Ask Failhorse, I'm almost positive he's got one and it hasn't given him a lisp.

This is pretty attractive:

No, in all seriousness, it could look good, but it depends on the type. My two cents? The more minimalistic, the better. That goes for all piercing in my mind. This is a decent lip example.

That is pretty much what I wanted to get. I have huge lips already. I'm worried a lip piercing might over emphasize that factor. I'm pretty stubborn though. I've Photoshopped a piercing on and it looked fine.

Also, I refuse to get a ring. They are way to obvious. I'm a teacher after all :/

I would go with one lower down (or higher up if you want to go upper lip), the further away from the pink bits of the lip, the better.

Really? They didn't seem all that big in the pic you put up in RL PIX.

It's not a good angle. I have Cate Blanchett lips.

Yes, this is 1 of many piercings. If you're getting it in the center do not get a stud. Daily minor impacts will wear away at the lower gum line exposing more tooth and make your teeth more sensitive. Gum tissue does not repair itself. This isn't an issue if you are mindful of the piercing.
If in the center I'd suggest a 14 gauge, if on a side 16 gauge. Don't go bigger. I've had the center pierced for about 14 years without a problem. It was originally a labret piercing but i pushed it up so i could wear a smaller ring. I had my left side lip pierced. It migrated after about 4 years. (Started going into the lip itself instead of right below. When it healed I was left with a tiny tube of scar tissue. Doesn't show but you can feel it.

I'd highly suggest a captive ball ring. Unless it's a stud. Open ended rings can be bit on and hook on things. On the pain scale this was probably the least painful. Keep it clean and don't drink for 48 hours.

Don't you know chicks pay to have bigger lips? They have fat sucked out of their ass and injected into their lips. Be a proud big lipper knowing you'll never need to do that.

Following Failhorse's lead, I have a funny story about a piercing.

Hanging out at a rugby drinkup after a match and I over hear my coach (Jeff, RIP) talking to a girl on the other team.

Jeff, "Honey, you look uncomfortable, you get hurt in the game? Need some advil?"
Girl, "No, it's just that my new piercing is bothering me."
Jeff, "Oh, what did you get pierced?"
Girl, "I can't say, I'm embarrassed."
Jeff, "Wait, you can pierce it but you can't SAY it?"
She turned the color of a stop sign.

Turns out she just got her clit pierced. 4 kegs later I went to take a leak. I opened the door and was greeted by the same girl sitting on the sink, legs spread. "Hey, wantta check out my new piercing?" Apparently she goes from totally shy to exhibitionist in 4 beers flat.

I'm not black!

Harri, I had a lower right stud on my lip for a while, and it gets annoying if you lock your jaw at night when you sleep. There is a chance that when that happens it will close on the barbell and it can chip at your teeth. If you don't regularly replace the length of the barbell in the beginning it will rub against your gums and wear them down. You should also go with titanium, yes it's more expensive but it's more gentle and less likely to cause any rashes/infections. I'm actually getting my monroe (or nose) today. We'll see what happens!

I find all piercings incredibly repulsive. Seriously, I'd never, NEVER, be able to enter a relationship or simply have sex with a girl that has piecings anywhere else but in the ears. Not only do I find them repulsive, I also think it's somewhat a sign of immaturity. It kinda sends a message of "look at me, I'm a rebel!" to me.

But, BUT, I'm not shitting on you or anything if you have piecings anywhere else but in the ears. I don't like that look at that's my right. I'm not saying you should take all your piecings away either. I'm not saying you are an immature moron either. There are many people with piercings that I respect and that are intelligent. I don't want to insult you by saying I feel piecings are immature either. I'm just trying to state my opinion, my feelings, about the matter.

For me, only natural bodies are attractive. I don't like tatoos nor piercings because of that. But it's just me. My tastes. That's all. Please forgive me if I insulted your tastes, but we can have different opinions while still being cyber-friends I hope?

Also, toaster, I like how you translate and explain what a Tigre Géant is.

He also just called most of the Indian culture immature. A nose piercing was done on women in that culture mainly because they believed that it eased the pain in child birth. The represented their social standing and were considered beautiful. In another culture the women had nose piercings because they believed if they died and had no money, that ring would pay for the whole funeral. Just sayin'

edit: yes harri. Metal is metal. That's why I said spend over the 100$ and get titanium and plan on spending money on the higher priced metal, I do.

I pretty much TRIED to say that I respect many people with piercings. Sorry if you took it the other way around.

I was just saying to say that piercings generally give me, as to society, a bad first impression. I'm not saying people with piercings are retards nor do they give me the feeling to be. But a piecing is a great handicap. Dunno how it is in the States, but around where I live you generally won't find many "professional" works that will hire people with piercings. It's a reality. Most works related to helping the community in some way, policemen, firemen, teachers or even politicians for exemple, don't tolerate them. Piercings are a symbol of rebellion.

It doesn't mean you can't get a good job because you are pierced. It just means you cut yourself some possibilities. If you can do what you want in life while still being pierced, I'm sincerely glad for you and I respect that. I know an unsanely pierced girl that produces many music shows and she wins a fair amount of money while doing something she adores. That's awesome. Please don't think I believe pierced people are immature. What I'm trying to say is that I'm more likely to think that they are immature because they are pierced, but they can easily prove me otherwise by: not raping people, being nice or simply not being douchebags and being cute. My mind is open. But ya know, it's like seeing a black dude: I'll immediatly think a black dude as a bigger manhood than me as soon as I see him, but I won't tell myself that it's a proven fact. I'm just keeping in mind the possibly that his manhood is bigger than mine, like I keep in mind that some people with piercings might not understand what having piercings represent. It's only a possibility I keep in mind.

In another culture the women had nose piercings because they believed if they died and had no money, that ring would pay for the whole funeral. Just sayin'

I think you may be going a little far with that. I highly doubt girls nowadays get piercings because it will ease child birth or pay for a funeral. Just sayin'

Firstly, NO, I don't call ANY pierced person immature unless they prove themself to be as for anybody. Secondly, at my opinion, if people believe that having small metal pieces piercings through their face can reduce birthing pain... Good for them.

Ear piercings don't bother me at all, but other piercings make the person less appealing to me.
