How dare moms tell their kids what to eat

More like how dare the schools dictate what kids eat.
This could spell trouble for families with religious or philosophical dietary restrictions: they may use this new rule to force vegan kids to eat meat or Jewish kids to eat pork, for example. And considering the excessive amount of bureaucracy in our nation's public school systems (I was on the brunt end of this as a kid, as well as my brother), the parents essentially have no recourse.

I worked on the cafeteria when I was in highschool and learned... The burgers, the fries, the pudding, the cobbler, the milk, the pizza... Even the salad had grease in it... Anyways... When I helped I cleaned the damn kitchen head to toe, no more grease! ... I doubt it's as clean as I left it 6 years ago. Anyways... I always ate a box of little debbie brownies they sold there every day (and kept a good figure until about 19... T_T SCREW YOU METABOLISM!) ... Anyways... Yeah... I knew what was in it... When the volunteer cafeteria worker won't eat the food... You shouldn't either. :)

I don't mind the fact that school cafeterias are wanting to serve healthier food, but I do think they do a terrible job at it. Yeah, I know that school food isn't suppose to be of high quality in terms of taste (or in my school's case, edibility), but they don't do too well of a job at serving "healthy" lunches. I sometimes question whether or not McDonalds is a better choice for lunch. (even if it was, I sadly can't leave campus for lunch)

Wish my mom lovingly cut my sandvichs into the shape of a Star Wars ship like the kid in the story

I never ate school lunches. Even through highschool my lunch was pretty much the same: sandwich, piece of fruit, drink and some pretzels or something.

It's always driven me crazy, and many people have proved that for what the schools pay for re-heated slop, they can instead get freshly prepared food that actually tastes good and is good for you.

Hell, even in college we had to fire a cook from our fraternity because all he would do was re-heat frozen stuff from Sysco. The next guy may have been a bat-shit crazy Vietnam vet who would often discuss his plans for eliminating the "Gook Race", but damn he could cook. But then again we had a proud tradition of crazy cooks. I guess you have to be a little bit crazy to be the cook at a fraternity though.

I never ate school lunches either; hell i can't even eat at most restaurants because I find their food disgusting.

I blame my mom for making my meals from when I was born to around when I finished highschool. My mom was kind of a big deal among my peers, all their moms made inferior food.

Last session I spent 25$ a week for cafeteria meals at my college. Only complaint: they raise the prize.
