Presenting the Arenabox!

Postby Vivi Hill » Thu Dec 23, 2010 8:45 pm

That's right, a 24/7 Arena server with a similar setup to the slaybox. Let us know what you think, and add it to your favorites! IP is on our server list on the right of the homepage :)

Pretty cool server. I would like to see some community maps on the server sometime in the future, if that's a good idea.

Needs more rounds per map. Playing 3 (?) rounds goes by pretty quickly.

Also I can never see what the options are during a map vote. The box in the middle telling me a vote has begun is visible, but not the box on the left.

Server is now 10 rounds per map, 30 minutes. The vote issue is fixed, there's now 30 seconds and each end round is 7 seconds, so 23 seconds to vote. Works well. Also, I removed random crits and damage spread, more fair now.

Had a lot of fun on Arenabox last night, especially during commentary, because that just multiplies the fun factor every time. Doesn't seem to naturally pop itself from pubbers as well as the slayboxes, but maybe that was just 'cause server is new, or random fluke from yesterday, but it came close to dying a few times.

Anyway, awesome server, gun' use it more.

It'll take some time. Arena servers are finicky. The player base is much smaller. And many already have favorite places to play. A few weeks of forced popping will defiantly help.

I wish there were ever people in this server. Problem is, if you're the first person in the server you can't even fuck around until a second person joins. Don't know how easy it is to do something about that. Put me on your list of people to bother into helping pop it, I guess.
