Moments ago... A democrat was born.

A republician friend of mine just turned into a democrat. He works for the railroad. The railroad is complicated. They have a lot of rules that don't apply for the rest of Americans. For one, they have a separate retirement program. They don't pay into social security. A big thing for him was bs about Obama taking his shit away. Killing blah, and some more blah ect ect. Then there was some BS about Obama moving Railroad shit into social security. He made a big strink about this. Low and behold, somewhere hidden in the Ryan (republician budget that actually passed the house. then died in the senate) was where this came from. Ryan IE Romney wanted to move the railroad money into social security. Then turn it over to wall street. Finally after a year of this shit, he gets it. He saw the ryan budget that passed the house. Saw not 1 democrat voted for it. Looked at saw even Romney was lying on his website about it.

... OK the Railroad retirement is separate from social security. Even after the fall of 8 trillion dollars. They didn't lose a dollar. And people started this BS to get those evil unions against the democrats that allowed them to exist. Now they know.

They know Romney lied. Honestly, they didn't think there was a lie in the election up until now. They said they'd protect the railroad unions. Nevermind it's clear as day that they wanted to move the money out. Make it someone elses money and profit off of it.

So an angel got his wings. He's kinda a redneck. Those do exist here in the "city." but he has good intentions.

Live like a Republican. Vote, treat others, exist, and think like a democrat.

My dad worked for the railroad for 35 years. He is retired and makes a retirement income of about 80,000+ with a nice health care program that does not cost him a dime.

No shit fingerman. The railroad is intense. If you can get in, get up there, you are set. Cradle to grave. My dad also has similar shit from AT&T. Back when they took care of their employees. It was cradle to grave. If the principle died. AT&T took care of the family.

I'm still guessing your dad is a republican though.
It's funny they say this:
http://aboutmittromney.com/railroad-retirement.htm

but really mean this:
bottom of page 114 http://budget.house.gov/uploadedfiles/f ... report.pdf

That's the "ryan" budget that passed the house but died in the senate. Essentially takes the railroad retirement program and rolls it into social security.

But why get facts in the way.

Funny, my dad is in the railroad business currently and is going to retire pretty soon. Sadly he is a hardcore Republican, thankfully only on fiscal issues. Man did he freaking hate Clinton.

And for people who don't know, Railroad retirement was created before social security and is basically what social security should be. It's a fund like social security paid for by current workers to benefit retired ones, but its funds are completely and totally untouchable by the federal government, since it's separate from the federal budget. People bitch that social security is going bankrupt, but that's only because the funds that come from the SS tax have been raided for years by both parties, but it's mostly been used to cover expenses from off the books wars.

If all the money that went into social security stayed there, the program would have been fiscally sound until the 2040s since it has been running a surplus for a long, long time.

This is no news, politicians have been trying to fold RR retirement back into SS for decades, but the rules of the system required a vote by the current members of RR retirement to allow this, which never happens. I guess since the Ryan budget completely restructures SS they can get around this.

Fun fact: the largest single holder of all that 16 trillion in government debt? The Social Security Administration. It holds 3 times as much of the US debt as China. Also a little know fact is that only a 3 trillion of our total debt is owed to foreign countries, Japan and China being the biggest holders with Taiwan close behind. The rest of that debt is owned by us, well as long as you have any kind of retirement investments.

So fuck China, we've been borrowing from Social Security for decades, and now people are bitching that the program is going broke. Not if it had the ~3 trillion bucks the government owed to it back.
